Shaheen Afridi Kicks Ball To Boundary As Pakistan Toil Hard In Adelaide

Shaheen Afridi’s horrendous mistake in the outfield pretty much sums up Pakistan’s performance in the ongoing second Test against Australia at Adelaide. The visitors are looking set to suffer yet another heavy defeat after losing the series-opener by an innings and five runs. At the time of stumps, Australia  were well placed at 302 for 1.

Pakistan started the day on an impressive note with Shaheen Afridi striking early. Joe Burns, who had scored 97 in the previous match, was sent back by the left-arm pacer for just 4. However, it was not at all the precursor of the things that were to follow. David Warner and Marnus Labuschagne have sent the visitors on a leather hunt.

Both the players have struck back-to-back centuries to put Australia in the driver’s seat. Warner had scored 154 in the first game while Labuschagne had scored a career-best 185 runs. In the ongoing game, Warner was unbeaten on 166 while his partner was unbeaten on 126 when the umpires called stumps. Pakistan now face a herculean task in making a comeback in the match.

Shaheen Afridi’s embarrassing mistake:

Not much was going right for Pakistan on the field on Friday and Shaheen Afridi’s mistake while fielding pretty much summed it up. While chasing the ball, he mistakenly kicked it to the boundary ropes. Leg-spinner Yasir Shah’s ball was cut by Warner through covers and Shaheen looked like stopping the ball inside the boundary. But before he could lean down to pick up the ball, he ended up kicking the ball to the ropes, much to the delight of the Adelaide crowd.

Here is that incident:

It was not the only mistake on field from Shaheen. Earlier in the game too, he had failed to judge the direction of the ball which too resulted in a four.
